This worthy creature went through a lot of scripted off-screen stomping and screaming before making its appearance. I believe this was intended to build up the ter-roar you’re supposed to feel. What the poor thing never figured out was that it was locked in a small building with the most dangerous monster in the Wasteland, namely me.
It was oblivious of its peril because (1) it never saw me and (2) it died instantly with one shot. It was one of those “never felt a thing” merciful deaths.
Enlarged:
I don’t know how many hitpoints it was supposed to have, but it just wasn’t up to a gauss gun with over 500 damage multiplied by 6.3.
The lesson here is never send a deathclaw to do a tyrannosaurus rex’s job.
Nice.
I’m not sure why click to enlarge doesn’t work in this theme. 😛
I still haven’t found the gauss gun. Or if I did, I sold it to some random vendor and forgot all about it. 🙁
I still have the Junk Jet in a little steamer trunk in my garage along with about 4000 random bits of armor and at least 3 more huge guns.
The junk jet is pure novelty and only good for storing in a box somewhere.
The gauss rifle is a superweapon and very practical. As with all FO4 weapons, the more you put into related perks, the more powerful the weapon gets.
My gauss rifle does over 3000 damage because I’m in maxed sneak mode and the gun is fully modded. Other perks help, like maxed Rifleman, maxed Lone Wanderer, etc. If I ever run across anything really nasty (and things don’t get much nastier than mythic deathclaws), I always have two criticals ready to fire off, thanks to Critical Banker and other luck/crit perks. If you haven’t invested in these things or Gun Nut or Science, the gauss rifle is still worth keeping, but if you’re not deliberately mapping out perks, you’re doing it wrong.
